How to Stop Eating Late at Night

By Jackie Panin

Eating in the evening is a core cause to why people have difficulties losing weight. There are many reasons why people tend to eat more at night ranging from boredom to just plain hunger. One other reason is actually because when the sun goes down our body stops creating a mood boosting appetite suppressing brain chemical called serotonin, which weakens our bodies ability to manage your appetite. Serotonin is responsible for creating melatonin, which is a brain secreting substance that helps to relax, feel satisfied and helps us to sleep.

There are some ways to help fight the late night hunger cravings some people fight so often. One includes drinking a large glass of water ever 60-90 minutes. Sometimes our bodies mistake the feeling of thirst as being hunger. Also, water helps to fill you up and feel much less hungry.

You should also make sure that you are eating enough during the day, especially at dinner. Of course if your not full after dinner, in a few hours you are going to get hungry and most likely over eat. Most times people are able to manage their binging during the daytime hours and think they are doing good, but when the evening hits your doomed. So try to level it out a bit. Eat filling foods and protein rich meals.

Another reason that people eat at night is boredom. Most of us come home from work, sit and relax and watch TV. This can majorly lead to overeating. Especially watching all of those television commercials. Try getting a hobby, anything hands on will help.
